As a family owned and operated gym, we know that it can be tough juggling work, family, kids AND trying to get in a good workout. Don’t worry, we are in this together! These are our Top 5 tips to stay active during the holiday season.
Have a Fitness Plan
Having a fitness plan where you’ve pre-determined what workouts you’d like to do will help you stay on track. We’ve put together a workout plan called the Holiday Hustle that includes workouts you can do at home – by yourself, with your family, or with your bestie. No equipment needed, and all the workouts are 30 minutes or less!
We challenge you to set aside just 30 minutes a day. That’s one episode of your favorite TV show. You can even workout while watching your favorite TV show. While nothing can replace the community and friendly competition you’ll find at your CrossFit box, there’s still ways to keep moving while you’re home for the holidays.
Get Enough Sleep and Hydrate
It’s easy when family and friends are around to get caught up in the fun and forget self care. We believe self care is more than just exercise, it’s getting at least 8 hours of sleep and drinking plenty of water. Holidays can bring fun beverages but be sure to balance that out with your good friend, H20.
There is always time and opportunity for a workout
Family at the house for Christmas? Invite them to join your workout! Friends tearing you away from the house? Suggest an active outing like a walk around the park, ice skating or a 5k fun run. With the holidays comes plenty of themed walks, runs, and active outdoor events. Make it more fun by bringing family and friends along too. There is always an opportunity to move your body!
Remember it’s a single day; get rid of ‘all or nothing’ mindsets.
If you miss a day, it’s okay! And if you can’t workout all five days? Pick 3 workouts a week and tackle those. What’s most important is building a workout routine into your schedule so you can stay consistent.
